How Can I use Squirrly for Google My Business Content Optimization?
Just like traditional website SEO, Google uses a variety of signals to serve search results.
Including important keywords and search phrases in your business listing will be very helpful, especially since your business website is listed directly within your Google My Business listing.
What happens if I replace my Focus Page with another? Will all the work I’ve done be lost?
The Focus Pages system gives you the flexibility to change your Focus Pages as often as you need.
The way we thought about it is: There are over 113 ranking factors to tweak and improve for every single focus page.
A team can influence the ranking factors for about 10 pages at a time. A single user, about 5 pages at a time. Getting traffic, social media shares, writing better and longer content, making sure visitors have a good experience on a page — all these take a lot of focus.
By influencing the ranking factors and turning those Red Dots to Green, you start ranking higher and improving the chances of ranking on the first page.
Once a page starts ranking in TOP 10 on Google, then you no longer need to focus on tweaking the page and you can just check its ranking from the Ranking Section of Squirrly to make sure it stays in the top 10.
This frees up space for new pages you want to start ranking.
So, once a page hits the top 10, you can switch it for another/remove focus page. (this is a best practice, though, something we recommend – you can switch a Focus Page whenever you want).
To make sure a page stays in the top 10, we recommend monitoring the ranking from the Ranking Section of Squirrly. You can monitor your Rankings even after you remove a page from Focus Pages. And if you see the ranking decrease, you can add it again as a Focus Page and run a fresh analysis of your page.
**** Every time you add a Page as a Focus Page, the system will run a fresh analysis of that page.
However, that doesn’t mean your work will be lost.
For example: if you add page x as your Focus Page, fix the task that says to optimize using the SEO Live Assistant, delete page x, but then one week later, you add page x back to the Focus Pages section, the system will know that your text is optimized. (because you’ve already done that)
You won’t have to go back and re-optimize using the SEO Live Assistant (unless you decide to change your main keyword and want to optimize for a different keyword).
What is the difference between Focus Pages and the SEO Live Assistant?
The SEO Live Assistant (SLA) and Focus Pages are two completely different features. Meaning: you get to build “search relevance” (and also enhance your content and your strategy) by using the SEO Live Assistant from Squirrly SEO. But that is just a sub-set of what needs to be done in order to rank your focus pages.
All your pages should be optimized using the SEO Live Assistant, but you shouldn’t place ALL your pages as Focus Pages inside Squirrly SEO. Let us tell you more:
Focus Pages analyzes a page’s chances of ranking by analyzing and providing feedback on over 113 ranking factors that Google also takes into account when deciding if it should rank a page on Google and on which position.
One of the things the Focus Pages system checks for is whether your page is optimized using the SEO Live Assistant (to ensure you have Search Relevance). But it also looks at things like:
the keywords you are targeting,
the competition for those keywords and their place inside your strategy,
traffic health (how good and how well targeted is the traffic and do people spend time on the page?),
whether you have backlinks for that page,
whether you have inner links,
and many other factors (again… over 113 factors) that impact your chances of ranking.
A team can influence the ranking factors for about 10 pages at a time. Getting traffic, social media shares, writing better and longer content, making sure visitors have a good experience on a page — all these take a lot of focus.
By influencing the ranking factors and turning those Red Dots to Green, you start ranking higher and improving the chances of ranking on the first page.
Once a page starts ranking in TOP 10 on Google, then you no longer need to focus on tweaking the page and you can just check its ranking from the Ranking Section of Squirrly, to make sure it stays in top 10.
And as an extra measure, also add that page to the SEO Audit section. From the SERP Checker and the SEO Audit, you’ll get to know how well your previous focus pages keep performing. But you won’t continue to actively invest in those pages, because those are already ranked high.
This frees up space for new pages you want to start ranking (new pages that you can set as Focus Pages).
You’ll start focusing on a new set of pages and you’ll increase the monthly organic visits to your site by ranking the new set of pages. Your previous focus pages will also keep bringing in traffic, so you’ll be compounding a lot of organic visits over time, while also working step by step and being able to focus your efforts.
Having a page set as Focus Pages doesn’t influence the SEO Live Assistant Score for that page.
Whether you have that page set as a Focus Page or not, the SEO Live Assistant will check for the same number of items.

Does Squirrly SEO Offer Any Internal Linking Features?
With Squirrly SEO, you get access to:
Inner Links Assistant (two components: one that helps you find opportunities for all previous content, and one that helps you build new inner links). Read more details here.
Plus, the My Articles section of the Blogging Assistant (shown below) lets you check the existing content on your site, to help you find if you’ve ever written about the Main Keyword before and add references or internal links.
You can even add snippets of other articles you’ve already written, along with the inner link and reference to your own content.
Also, for Focus Pages, Squirrly checks for Inner Links: checks (using the internal WordPress system) to see if you have built links from other pages on your WP site to that specific focus page.
Does Squirrly Have an Option for submitting new URLs to Search Console to be Indexed?
Squirrly has the option to Ping New Posts to Search Engines. Find it at: Squirrly SEO > SEO Configuration > Tweaks & Sitemap > Sitemap XML.
Pinging is a process by which Squirrly SEO can notify search engines that your sitemap has been updated. As long as you activate this option, we’ll make sure that Google and Bing get notified whenever you publish a new post so that they know there is new content to crawl and index.
How does the size of Squirrly’s keyword database compare with the likes of Ahrefs and SEMRush?
We don’t have a keyword database.
All the researches are made in real-time using Google Search API and Social Media.
Our keyword research data is fresh, since we don’t use cached databases. Our maximum caching time is about 48 hours, not a whole year or two like you find in other tools.
As we use Google API and run them through our Proprietary TECH to define search volumes and more, Social Media for discussions, the data will be FRESH every time.
^^ we have our very own algorithms to offer the industry’s best data when it comes to Keyword Research. We’ve been building research algorithms since 2012.
This is why the research may take a little while as there are many processes running. But that means Squirrly users are able to get real-time, fresh info every day / every time they run a new keyword research.
What Dedicated Features Does Squirrly Offer for News Websites?
Here are a few features that Squirrly offers which may come in handy if you have a News site:

How Does Squirrly Help with Image SEO?
Here are a few ways in which Squirrly SEO helps with this:
For every page you set as Focus Page, our system will suggest completing a task to ensure that the keyword is present in the filename of the image (this helps with image optimization).
With Squirrly, you also have the option to enable or disable the inclusion of images in your sitemap. When this setting is turned ON, Squirrly will add the image tag for each post with feature image. Having this option turned ON helps ensure that Google will index your images in Google Image Search.
The SEO Live Assistant in Squirrly SEO checks to make sure that you use keywords in the alt text of the image to help search engines better understand your content.
How Accurate is Squirrly’s keyword research? Comparable to Ahrefs?
We can tell you for certain that it’s more accurate than SEMrush. We haven’t used Ahrefs in a while, so it wouldn’t be fair to compare to some of their older algorithms which they might not have today (because they might have updated versions).
And unlike SEMrush and other keyword research tools, we don’t use cached databases.
Our keyword research data is fresh, since we don’t use cached databases.
Our cache is about 48 hours, not a whole year or two years, like you find in SEMrush and UberSuggest. As we use Google API and run them through our Proprietary TECH to define search volumes and more, Social Media for discussions, the data will be FRESH every time.
^^ we have our very own algorithms to offer the industry’s best data when it comes to Keyword Research. We’ve been building research algorithms since 2012.
Our tool brings fresh data for the keywords, not old search volumes.
Can a product page in WooCommerce be Used as a Focus Page?
Yes, you can add WooCommerce products in Focus Pages.
We’ve been using this ourselves on a few online stores ourselves and it’s a great money maker, especially because many store owners never go to optimize the content on their product pages.
It will give you a great advantage!
If your theme allows for custom text inside WooCommerce category pages, that can also be a gold mine for Focus Pages-driven results.
