Keyword Tool

Focus on Long-Tail Keywords

It’s the only SEO tool that brings you clear focus on Long-Tail keywords.

Why do we do this?

It’s because most of the sites of our customers could really get up and running on the first page of Google if they stopped going after “bad keywords” like shoes, or jewelry.

Long Tail keywords could bring them to the first page of Google for multiple queries and ensure multiple sources of organic “free” traffic.

By using awesome research capabilities from the keyword tool of Squirrly SEO, we could even compile a list of 100 awesome and easy keywords to target if you’re in the fitness industry. Which is crazy because that industry seems over-crowded.

Don’t believe me? Check the list of keywords.

Once you read them, make sure we input them in your Squirrly SEO keyword tool. You’ll see how good they are.

100% Objective and Un-Biased search.

Use the Keyword Tool from Squirrly when you want to look at search data.

If you’d search the keywords yourself, you’d get completely biased results.

Biased?

Yes, because Google tries to personalize search.

Therefore, in order to get the “real” values, you need to use a software program like Squirrly SEO.

The fact that Squirrly SEO is un-biased is what will be super valuable for you if you target specific regions. See more here.

Look at how people use keywords in other countries. Help with local or country-based search

When you search for “social media tools” in Argentina you’ll notice that the stats given for the keyword are different than if you searched for “social media tools” in Germany.

Why?

There are different search patterns and keywords used in search, from country to country.

That’s why if you’re targeting specific markets, you should tell the Squirrly SEO keyword tool for which country you want the search stats to be calculated.

140 Countries are currently available for Keyword Research >>

We’re always working and adapting the tool to make sure we can provide better results for each particular country.

Success in this field has already lead the Squirrly Company to sell PRO and Business subscriptions for the software in over 90 countries.

Shows the Exact Searches made by consumers on the web for a certain keyword (built for SEO, not search engine advertising)

Shows Exact Searches.

For people who don’t yet believe in keywords or think this is not important: read this short article from the Help Center.

Exact searches is what you need to look for when doing SEO.

The Keyword Planner from Google doesn’t use this by default, for example. Read more here.

Most of the other keyword tools you’ll find out there are made with the purpose of helping you buy ads on search engines!

Squirrly SEO helps you with search volumes which are useful to know for SEO.

Most of the times search volumes are completely different from “premium WordPress themes” to “WordPress premium themes”. This applies to many other types of searches, in all industries from “art”, to “technology”, to “design” to “fitness”.

Shows you the trends for the Keywords it displays in the Keyword Research

UPDATE 2022 : Squirrly SEO no longer shows you the trend for keywords researched using the built-in Keyword Research Tool.

Takes all the info directly from Google trends and shows you if each keyword in the list it presents has a good trend.

Until Squirrly SEO 2019 it used to present the trend results as “trending”, “steady”, “going down” and a few more variations. Right now it shows you a graphic evolution for the last few months.

That way you will get a much clearer picture as to how trending your keyword is right now.

Advice on using trends:

MAKE SURE you stay away from keywords with trends that are going down.

Why?

  • because if you use keywords with trends that are going down, you will get very little SEO results in the long run. Let’s say you rank to position #3 in Google over the next few months. However, all that effort will be useless because in a couple more months nobody will search for that keyword anymore.

Shows Competition for the Keywords (depending on the Authority your website has for that kind of keyword environment)

One other component that goes into Squirrly’s calculations for the Competition of a given keyword is the Authority of your Website for that kind of keyword environment.

This sounds fancy and all, but it’s quite true.

Using a combination of “Keywords in Briefcase” and “Market Intelligence”, Squirrly calculates (starting with the PRO account level, which currently means: for PRO and Business plan users) an authority score that your website has for the kind of keyword that you are currently targeting.

Think of it like this:

Your e-commerce store (just an example) is suddenly going after “anime toys”.

Does Google believe you are an authority in this field? – That’s important to know.

If your store was selling wood watches up until now and you suddenly go selling two anime toy products on your ecommerce store, what will Google search bots and potential human beings visiting your store think? – it would most probably be: “what’s the catch? why does a wood watches store sell a Son Goku action figure?”. It’s weird.

Therefore, the tendency would be to try and take your anime toys pages out of search and rank them BELOW other websites who have been selling “anime stuff”, “anime *”, “toys”, “action figures”, etc. for years. And who maybe have tons of pages designated to such sales.

This is the reason why we’re taking a look at your authority for the topic. It’s also why working with a clear Briefcase labeling strategy inside Squirrly SEO will help you long term in everything you do for SEO. It will provide you with great clarity regarding aspects like these.

Shows Competition for the Keywords (depending on number of pages trying to rank for the same keywords)

This is one of the components which make up the Competition score that we give inside our keyword research tool.

Part of the calculation has to do with the number of pages that are currently trying to rank on the web for the same exact keyword.

However, the more correct explanation would be: the number of pages that the Google search engines “thinks” of ranking for that given keyword.
