Website and Mobile Icons (Squirrly Favicon.ico) will make your site look professional in browsers, pads and mobile devices.

Once you have you site icon set up, Squirrly will add all the icons required by mobile devices, like an iPad. That way, when the site is bookmarked on a mobile device, your icon will be visible.

Squirrly does not physically create the favicon.ico file. This is the best option if you use WordPress Multisite option.

  • Since “Squirrly does not physically create the favicon.ico file”, should I upload this file to root myself?

Also, I’m wondering, why doesn’t Squirrly automatically handle this? You could integrate a tool like the awesome Real Favicon Generator. Favicons are ridiculously fragmented, so automating their creation is really the only way to go, and this makes the process effortless:

    • Hi James,

You don’t need to have the file in the root. Squirrly will only tell WordPress which image to load when the link is accessed.

So when you switch off this feature you don’t need to delete any file. Same with the sitemap option.
